Group tour € 360,00 / person

The tour will be confirmed upon reaching the minimum number of participants, which is 3. The maximum number of participants is 5.

The price includes: IFAGM Monterosa ski guide for both days of the tour, half board at at Rifugio Chabod or Vittorio Emanuele, ski guide half board, technical equipment (harness, crampons), safety kit (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe)*.

Not included in the price: accident insurance (recommended), meals not specified for yourself and the guide, everything not listed under “the price includes”.

Day 1: Approach to the Hut (Chabod or Vittorio Emanuele)
Depart from Pont (Valsavarenche) and ascend to one of the two available mountain huts:

  • Rifugio Chabod (2750 m): A route through larch forests and gentle snowy slopes, with stunning views of the Laveciau Glacier.
  • Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II (2735 m): A more direct path through dramatic valleys, offering glimpses of the Gran Paradiso Glacier.

Both huts provide cozy accommodations and a convivial dinner. The evening concludes with a technical briefing for the next day’s ascent.

Hiking time: 3-4 hours

Day 2: Summit Ascent and Descent
Set off before dawn to tackle the most challenging stretch up to the summit of Gran Paradiso (4061 m).

  • From Rifugio Chabod: Traverse the Laveciau Glacier, navigating technical sections of snow and ice.
  • From Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele: Gradual ascent via the Gran Paradiso Glacier, leading to the summit.

At the top, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360° view of the Alps. The descent retraces your ascent route back to Pont, with moments to soak in the scenery along the way.

ATTENTION: The sleeping bag liner is mandatory in all shelters. We recommend a lightweight but, above all, reusable sleeping bag liner. Let’s protect the mountains from waste. We use this one.

Mountaineering, ski touring, off-piste skiing and trekking take place in a natural, uncontrolled environment.
Weather conditions, snow, ice, terrain, visibility, altitude and physical fatigue can change rapidly and directly affect the course of the activity. For this reason, there is always an inherent level of objective risk, which cannot be eliminated but only managed.

All our activities are led by IFMGA Mountain Guides and Certified Hiking Guides (AMM).
The guide continuously assesses environmental conditions and the physical and mental state of participants, sets an appropriate pace, manages progression and ensures the correct use of equipment. If conditions require it, the guide may modify the itinerary or interrupt the activity, always in the interest of individual and group safety.

Participants are required to be in good physical and mental condition, adequately prepared for the level of the activity, and to follow the guide’s instructions at all times.

Group activities

During group outings, the pace is set according to the slowest participant. In case of fatigue or discomfort, the guide may decide to adjust the programme or return early. In the mountains, the group ascends and returns together.

FAQ #1 – In case of bad weather, can I reschedule my tour?
Basic ski touring experience and familiarity with using an avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe are required.
FAQ #2 – What happens if I feel unwell during the ascent?
If you feel unwell during the tour, we will return to the starting point. In case of a serious condition, the guide will alert rescue services, and you will be airlifted to a hospital.

No refunds are provided as the services will have been utilized regardless.

Yes, but intermediate ski touring skills are required.

To prepare for ski touring, focus on aerobic training like running and cycling to build endurance. Strengthen your legs with squats, lunges, and step-ups. Improve balance and core stability, practice skinning, and work on off-piste skiing technique to handle variable snow conditions.
FAQ #8 – Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
No, the huts provide pillows, duvets, or blankets. However, a sleeping bag liner is mandatory and can be purchased at a reasonable cost from outdoor retailers. We recommend this one (affiliate link).
FAQ #9 – How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 6 weeks in advance, especially during peak periods.
