The price includes: accompaniment by a IFMGA mountain guide from Monte Rosa for two days

Swiss Normal Route – Hörnli Ridge
Day 1: Towards Hörnlihütte
Meet your guide in the early afternoon at Breuil-Cervinia. Take the lifts to Plateau Rosa, then descend to Schwarzsee (2584 m). From there, hike for about two hours to reach the Hörnlihütte (3260 m). Dinner and overnight stay.

Ascent: Approximately 700 m.
Duration: 2 hours.

Day 2: The Matterhorn Summit
Depart at dawn to tackle the Hörnli Ridge, following a technical and challenging path to the summit. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Schwarzsee and return to Breuil-Cervinia via lifts.

Ascent: 1220 m.
Descent: 1700 m.
Total Duration: 12-14 hours.

Upper Body:

  • Technical shirt (also short-sleeved)

Lower Body:

  • 2 pairs of thermal or ski socks
  • Thermal leggings

ATTENTION: The sleeping bag liner is mandatory in all shelters. We recommend a lightweight but, above all, reusable sleeping bag liner. Let’s protect the mountains from waste. We use this one.

 

  • IFMGA guides climb the Matterhorn with only one climber per guide.
  • Due to the difficulty, we’ll require a brief phone or video call before confirming the booking.
  • Guides may adjust itineraries and activities based on weather conditions, hut accessibility, and participants’ physical fitness.

Climbing entails risks, including severe injury or fatal accidents. Our certified guides strive to minimize these risks. However, you acknowledge that risk cannot be entirely eliminated by signing the booking agreement for this ascent.

Our guides will assist you in achieving your goals and ensuring an enjoyable experience. Trust in their judgment and decisions is essential for safety. Adequate preparation and physical fitness are necessary to ensure your safety during the climb.

If the guide deems you unprepared for the climb, they will suggest a suitable alternative. In case of unforeseen bad weather making the ascent unsafe, the guide will propose an agreed-upon alternative climb.


FAQ #1 – What happens if I feel unwell during the climb?

If you feel unwell at the hut, we’ll arrange an early descent. If you feel unwell during the climb, we will turn back. In case of serious illness, your guide will alert rescue services, and you’ll be evacuated by helicopter.
FAQ #2 – Can I join a group if I’m alone?
No, we do not organize group climbs for this type of ascent.
FAQ #3 – Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?

No, the huts provide pillows, duvets, or blankets! However, a sleeping bag liner is mandatory and can be purchased at a reasonable cost from specialized stores. Click here for more information (affiliate link).
FAQ #4 – Can I rent high-altitude clothing and equipment?
Equipment (boots, trekking poles, ice axe) can be rented in Alagna, Gressoney, and Champoluc. Clothing rental is not available.
FAQ #5 – Will I be refunded if I don’t reach the summit?
No, refunds are not provided.
FAQ #6 – What level of physical preparation is required for this climb?
To successfully complete this experience, you need excellent physical endurance and proper training. This climb requires advanced technical skills, familiarity with ice and mixed climbing techniques, and consistent high-level training.

Our packages do not include insurance. Since many of you are members of mountain clubs, which offer excellent coverage for their members, or already have personal insurance, we aim to avoid redundancy.

However, if you are not yet insured (and we highly recommend you consider it) and would like coverage for:
