East-West Traverse of the Aiguilles Marbrées

Day 1: Traverse of the Aiguilles Marbrées and Overnight at Rifugio Torino
The meeting point is scheduled for the morning at the base of the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car in Courmayeur. After a technical equipment check, we will ascend to Punta Helbronner via the cable car and begin the approach to Colle del Marbré, a 40-minute walk with stunning views over Val Ferret. From there, we will undertake the East-West traverse of the Aiguilles Marbrées. This traverse, ideal for learning progression techniques on mixed terrain, takes approximately 3–4 hours, including breaks and practical guidance.

Following the traverse, we will return to Rifugio Torino to end the day, enjoying the tranquillity of an evening in the Monte Bianco range.

Day 2: Breakfast and Return to Courmayeur
After breakfast at Rifugio Torino, there will be time to admire the sunrise over the surrounding peaks before beginning the descent. We will take the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car back down to Courmayeur, concluding a technical and memorable high-mountain experience.

FAQ #1 – Will I suffer from altitude sickness?
High altitude can cause altitude sickness, with symptoms such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. These symptoms can vary from person to person. Gradual acclimatization helps reduce the risk and intensity of symptoms. Being in good physical shape and well-trained makes the experience less strenuous.
FAQ #2 – What happens if I feel unwell during the ascent?
If you feel unwell during the climb, we will return to the starting point. In case of a serious condition, the guide will alert rescue services, and you will be taken to the hospital by helicopter.
FAQ #3 – Can I join a group if I’m alone?
No, we do not organize group climbs for this type of ascent.
FAQ #4 – Will I be refunded if I don’t reach the summit?
No, refunds are not provided as the services will have been utilized regardless.
FAQ #5 – How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least six weeks in advance, especially during peak periods.
FAQ #6 -What documents do I need to bring?
A valid ID and a copy of your accident insurance (if you have one).
FAQ #7 – What happens if the weather is unfavorable?
The guide will suggest an alternative or, if necessary, reschedule the climb.
FAQ #8 – Can I participate if I don’t have glacier experience?
No, this climb requires technical skills and a good understanding of glacier progression techniques.
FAQ #9 -Is it possible to customize the program?
Yes, we can tailor the program to your needs. Contact us, and we will prepare the best plan for you.
FAQ #10 – How should I prepare physically for this climb?
We recommend regular training that includes aerobic endurance and strength, with a focus on your legs. In spring, we organize training sessions every Sunday — check them out here.
