My goal

Change the backdrop and choose the magic of Val d’Otro and Zube as the destination for your next ski mountaineering experience. Off-piste routes that are not too challenging and nights in authentic alpine huts. An immersion into a parallel reality where all you need to find snow and adventure is to open the door.

The price includes: IFMGA guide of Monte Rosa for the 4-day tour, 1 Half board overnight stay at the Gabiet refuge, 2 Half board overnight stays at the Zar Senni refuge, 2 day passes for Monterosaski, technical equipment (harness, crampons), safety kit (Avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe).

Day 1

Meeting with the guide in Alagna or Gressoney at 8:30. Equipment check and distribution of technical materials. Introduction to ski mountaineering in the off-piste areas of Monterosaski. We will start the first day on easy terrain to teach you and refine the technique before moving on to more challenging ones to test yourself and to have some fun. Dinner and overnight at the Gabiet Hut.

Day 2

The morning will be dedicated to off-piste skiing to warm up the legs for the ascent with skins to the Zube pass and Corno Rosso (about 2 hours). Descent into the Otro valley on gentle slopes among the huts of Foric, Pianmisura, and Weng. Dinner and overnight at the Zar Senni Hut, a mecca for enthusiasts of the Walser Green Paradise.

Day 3

Destination Otro’s garden, once a heli-ski landing site and now a protected wildlife reserve. A less frequented area by skiers, where we find the last fossil glacier of Monte Rosa, overshadowed by the imposing north face of Corno Bianco. Due to its northern exposure, the snow at Otro’s garden is often of excellent quality. Dinner and overnight at the Zar Senni Hut.

Day 4

In about 1 to 1.30 hours of ascent, we will reach the Passo dell’Uomo Selvatico, which will offer us a breathtaking view of Monte Rosa. The descent will be through the ancient woods of D’Zender, returning then to Alagna or Gressoney with tired legs but a light heart.
