My goal

Alagna or Gressoney ski touring is the ultimate way to experience the authenticity of Monte Rosa. Live the thrill of spring ski mountaineering in Zube and the magical Val d’Otro, and embark on a unique adventure far from the beaten paths.

Starting from either Alagna or Gressoney, you will spend four days immersed in the world of ski mountaineering at Monterosa Ski, refining your technique on accessible routes and preparing for future challenges. Each day marks progress in your skills, surrounded by the majestic Alps. The highlight will be the introduction to Val d’Otro, where we will guide you to the Giardino di Otro and the last fossil glacier of Monte Rosa. You will ascend the Passo dell’Uomo Selvatico for breathtaking views and ski through the ancient forests of D’Zender. This relatively unknown tour unveils truly unspoiled, solitary spaces, a frontier for real adventurers.

Alagna or Gressoney ski touring offers an unforgettable journey that will fill your soul with the authentic beauty of these fairy-tale landscapes.

Day 1

Meeting with the guide in Alagna or Gressoney at 8:30 AM for equipment check and distribution of technical materials. Introduction to off-piste skiing in the Monterosa Ski area. We will start the first day on easy terrain to teach you and refine your technique before moving on to more challenging slopes to put you to the test and allow for some fun. Dinner and overnight stay at the Gabiet Hut.

Day 2

The morning will be dedicated to off-piste skiing to loosen up the legs in preparation for the ascent with skins to the Zube Pass and Corno Rosso (about 2 hours). We will descend into the Otro Valley on the gentle slopes between the huts of Foric, Pianmisura, and Weng. Dinner and overnight stay at the Zar Senni Hut, a mecca for Alagna enthusiasts.

Day 3

Destination: Giardino di Otro, once an heliski landing site and now a protected wildlife reserve. This area is rarely frequented by skiers, and we will ascend to the last fossil glacier of Monte Rosa, dominated by the impressive north face of Corno Bianco. Due to its northern exposure, the snow in the Giardino di Otro is often perfect. Dinner and overnight stay at the Zar Senni Hut.

Day 4

In about 1 to 1.5 hours of ascent, we will reach the Passo dell’Uomo Selvatico, which will offer us a truly superb view of Monte Rosa. The descent through the ancient forests of D’Zender back to Alagna or Gressoney will be the highlight of a relatively unknown tour, making it a frontier of truly unspoiled spaces and solitude.
